I am writing this entry on my new (to me) Pocket PC phone. I have had a Palm OS PDA for years now, and although it suited its purpose well, my one big complaint was just how clumbsy entering text into the PDA using the stylus and "graphiti" language really was. This "smart phone" is a lot better in that regard, with its tiny qwerty keyboard. The predictive text seems like it could be quite handy, too - that is if it could ever actually predict a word quicker than I can just enter it myself. Every once in a while it surprises me by doing just that, but most of the time it only gets the word I want when I am one character from completing it.
What remains to be seen is whether this device will become a handy writing tool as I hoped it might, or just another gadget. Writing anything even as long as this blog entry is still quite cumbersome on this machine, and I really do not think that I will be replacing my trusty laptop any time soon. There really does seem to be a limit to how small technology can be made and still be fairly transparent. I think it is clear that I will never forget that I am writing on a cell phone when using tis device.
In any case, have a good one, all!
